Westwood Yarns
Westwood Yarns is an integral part of Victoria Carpets' supply chain. It became part of the Victoria Group in 1989.
Located in a traditional spinning area, in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, it now employs 130 people.
The operation has benefited from continuous significant capital investment, constantly improving quality and steadily building up its production capacity in line with Group and external customer requirements, making it one of the leading dry-woollen spinning mills in the UK.
A £1 million investment programme in 2006 along with a further £0.5 million investment in 2007 has taken advantage of this capacity increase, allowing the company to enter into the two-ply market as part of the Groups' strategy.
To facilitate further growth, Westwood's re-structured its operation in 2009 with the support of its loyal and dedicated workforce and now has production capacity of over 70 tonnes per week of high quality single-ply and two-ply yarn.
The recent addition of state-of-the-art thermal yarn splicing technology has considerably benefited both quality and productivity in carpet production.
As the yarn requirements of Victoria Carpets have increased, the majority of the output is supplied to this business, with the remainder going to a small but growing important external customer base.
